GHA Discovery Offers Double Elite Nights Credit & Members Only Rates

Discovery by Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) is one of the most unique hotel loyalty programs out there. Discovery program covers 550+ hotels in 75 countries.

Instead of earning and redeeming points, the focus is on tailored local experiences. It is hard to ascribe a value to these experiences. However, some of these (particularly in the Black tier) are very interesting.

Previously, I had written about the Discovery program and curated some local experiences offered in the Middle East.

Double Elite Night Credit

At present, Discovery is running a promotion that offers double elite night credit for stays till June 30, 2019. You need to register for this promotion here. Other key terms and conditions are

• Offer period: April 28, 2019 to June 30, 2019
• Stay period: May 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019
• Booking must be made on discoveryloyalty.com, the DISCOVERY Loyalty app, or brand websites for hotels in the DISCOVERY Collection
• New member registrations are also eligible

To reach the Platinum and Black tier, you need a minimum of 10 and 30 nights respectively. With double night credits, you can reach the next tier in half the number of nights.

This, coupled with the low season, has some interesting opportunities in Middle East.

One of the cheapest hotels you would find in the Discovery portfolio is Avani Deira Dubai Hotel. Located in the Deira district of Dubai, this hotel is very close to the Abu Baker Al Siddique Metro station.

     

During May, Avani Deira Hotel has a nightly rate of AED 171 ($46) + taxes.

Discovery Members Only Rates

Discovery also has a ‘members-only’ rates on some properties in UAE. These rates are cheaper than those offered by the respective hotel chains themselves. I had never noticed this before.

As you can see, these rates are 25% lower than published rates. I have checked the hotel’s websites and the rates as well as the type (room, cancellation policy, breakfast etc) match.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking to upgrade your Discovery membership, you should definitely consider Avani Deira. Alternatively, if you are a UAE resident, you could consider the Citi Prestige Credit Card. One of the perks with this card is complimentary Discovery Black membership.
