Purchase LifeMiles with up to 125% Bonus
LifeMiles promotion is back. It seems it never went away though. The last promotion was only in March!
This time you can get a bonus of up to 125% on the miles purchased.
If you are in Middle East and thinking why am I promoting LifeMiles, you must read this article – Avianca LifeMiles – How is it useful in Middle East?
LifeMiles Bonus Details
This is how the chart looks. You get 100% bonus on purchases below 51,000 miles, 115% bonus on purchases below 101,000 miles. If you are buying more than 101,000 miles, you get 125% bonus.
Buy from | Up to | Accrue | ||
LM 1,000 | LM 50,000 | 2×1 | ||
LM 51,000 | LM 100,000 | 2×1 + 15% | ||
LM 101,000 | LM 200,000 | 2×1 + 25% |
I am not sure why they have changed the terminology. In previous promotions, LifeMiles clearly used to mention 125%-140% bonus.
To ensure that everything is in order (you cannot be too careful with T&Cs these days), I logged into my LifeMiles account to make a dummy purchase.
For a purchase of 101,000 miles, you will get additional 126,250 miles. This is 125% bonus indeed. Effectively, each miles will cost you 1.47 cents.
Note that this is not the best bonus LifeMiles has ever offered. In past, I have seen bonuses up to 145% as well.
The offer period is from May 7, 2019 to June 5, 2019.
My Perspective
LifeMiles has become my default loyalty program for crediting Star Alliance flights. It is one of the very few frequent flyer program by a Star Alliance member that gives you online access to inventory. For most other airlines, you have to pick up your phone and call.
Last year, I had purchased LifeMiles and booked a business-class trip on Swiss (Dubai – Zurich). The price was a steal – only marginally more than economy tickets and 70% lower than business class fares. If you want to know more, please read my earlier post – Luxury Trip to Swiss Alps at Economy Prices.
At the same time, I am concerned about the frequency of bonuses offered by LifeMiles. I fear there might be a devaluation coming soon. I recommend that you should purchase miles only when you have an immediate use for it.
