Shipping Options From US To UAE
Today, Emirates formally launched UAE delivery for online purchases made on US websites (Amazon.com, Walmart etc). This has been in beta stage for sometime.
Incidentally, Emirates is not the first to provide such services. There are several players doing this including Aramex and MyUS. The modus operandi is straightforward. Once you create an account with these providers, you get a shipping address in US. You can get your packages delivered there which will be shipped to UAE.
In this post, I will be comparing some of the most popular delivery services.
Emirates Delivers
Minimum Chargeable Quantity – 1.0 KG
Shipping Fee – Starting at AED 47 per KG and becomes lower for larger quantities (e.g. AED 3,051 for 100 KG)
Subscription Services – No
Delivery time – 3 to 5 working days
Door-to-Door Shipping – Yes
Emirates Delivers – powered by Emirates SkyCargo – is the latest entrant in the market. I fully expect it to become the largest player riding on the airline’s brand. Emirates Delivers also offers a great feature – you can get multiple packages delivered within a window of 30 days. Emirates can consolidate the packages for you prior to shipping. In many cases, this can reduce the shipping weight (hence the shipping costs) substantially.
You can visit the Emirates Delivers website here. Unlike some other service providers, there is no premium subscription service here. You pay as per use.
MyUS
MyUS delivers not only in UAE but also in several other countries. It offers a premium service – MyUS Premium. The premium service has comparable benefits to Emirates Delivers including package consolidation and storage for 30 days.
The best thing is that the premium service is available for free to MasterCard holders in UAE (for 2 years). You can sign-up using this link.
You also get 30% discount on shipping for first 30 days and 20% discount later.

Shop & Ship by Aramex
Aramex is the largest player here and you can choose among several countries in addition to US. Shop & Ship is a subscription only model. You can choose ‘S&S Basic’ which costs $45 lifetime or ‘S&S Flex’ which costs $45 per year. You can also ship some restricted items like perfumes.
Minimum Chargeable Quantity – 0.1 KG
Shipping Fee – Starting at AED 52.5 per KG (for S&S Flex)
Subscription Services – Yes
Delivery time – 3 to 5 working days
Door-to-Door Shipping – Yes

Amazon Prime
Amazon has a different approach than the others. Amazon Prime members in UAE can get products worth AED 100 or more shipped directly from US to UAE. At no additional charges!
The major drawback is that you cannot shop directly at Amazon.com. Instead, you can shop for limited products at Amazon.ae. There is a filter on the website which lets you select ‘Amazon Global Store’.
Subscription fee for Amazon prime is AED 12 per month. It is free for the first month.
I rate this feature very highly. Ever since Amazon Prime was launched in UAE, I have used free international shipping 5 times. And the products have always been delivered timely. Even better, Amazon offers free returns as well.
No free return on Amazon Globalstore items.
I got a full refund on an item I returned. Although, the seller had sent the wrong item so it might be a specific case.
I find MYBOX (Speedex) the most economical. They charge for every 0.5 kgs
Feel free to try Planet Express (https://planetexpress.com/) too! They offer a free or paid membership, additional services (repack request, special request, additional pictures, etc.), excellent customer support (including Arabic) and low shipping rates.
There is no minimum quantity on how many packages you have to send and the delivery time varies according to the shipping method you use (DHL, FedEx, Aramex, USPS and more). 🙂
