Emirates Launches Service to Porto

Emirates just announced direct flight to Porto – the second largest city in Portugal after Lisbon.

Flights will operate 4x weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays).  The flight timings are tailored so as to connect Porto to the Emirates global network. It means travelers from Asia / Australia can fly to Porto and vice versa with a brief stopover in Dubai. Flights commence from July 2, 2019, just in time for the school vacations.

Portugal, as a whole, is an upcoming tourist destination for folks beyond Europe. Porto provides something for both business and leisure travelers. It has a great football club, scenic cruises and of course Port wine. It is close to Azores – the Hawaii of the Atlantic.

Incidentally, Emirates is not the first Middle East airline to fly direct to Porto. The spot goes to Turkish Airline – which flies 10x weekly from Istanbul.

Emirates would not be using A380 on the route. The route will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three class cabin configuration – 8 First Class, 42 flatbeds Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class.
