Etihad redemption can be done either in Guest Seats or Open Seats. Guest seats are your standard way of redemption. There is limited inventory available and a fixed number of miles are required for redemption.
Open seats have the entire inventory available for booking. The number of miles required is linked to the ongoing fare. Like revenue tickets, Open seats also have three sub-categories – Saver, Classic and Flex.
If all this is too confusing, there is one key takeaway. Guest seats require less miles than Open seats in most cases. The only exception is when the ongoing fare on the route is very cheap.

Final Thoughts
The lowest round-trip business-class fares I could see in September were $4,100. Therefore, with this redemption you can get up to 4 cents per Etihad mile. This is incredible value.
