Partial Closure of Northern Runway at DXB Airport

On Thursday, DXB Airport announced partial closure of the northern runway for temporary maintenance work. This closure, will last for the next 4 days. The timings are:

  • 5pm to 7pm on Friday, May 24, 2019
  • 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, May 26, 2019
  • 5pm to 7pm on Monday, May 27, 2019

As per Dubai Airports, the brief closure is for “necessary maintenance and upgrades as part of the ongoing runway rehabilitation program”.

Southern Runway Also Closed

It is important to note that the southern runway has been completely closed from April 16 to May 30 while it undergoes extensive upgrade work. Due to this, some airlines have scaled back operations. Others have moved to Dubai’s second airport – DWC.

Impact of Northern Runway Closure

It is obvious that the timings have been selected so as to minimize disruptions. 4pm – 7pm is the least busy time of the day. In fact, one of the first things you would hear from a first-time traveler to DXB Airport is that how lively it is at 2am!
