Another Mattress Run Opportunity with Marriott Endless Earning

Remember Jamie? He had reached out to me with a query on a mattress run to achieve Marriott Platinum Elite status. At that time, there were two things that made a mattress run attractive. First, Marriott Bonvoy, in its new avatar, had its first ever promotion – Double Take. Second, the promotion dates coincided with Ramadan period and the nightly rates were extremely low.

You can read more about the previous promotion here.

Now, Marriott Bonvoy has launched its second promotion – Endless Earning. In some ways, this is even better than Double Take. Jamie could reach his tier status for a lot cheaper with the new promotion. Read below to find out more.

Endless Earning with Marriott Bonvoy

The promotion is straightforward. For any stay of two nights or more across Marriott properties, you get 1,500 additional points. Obviously, this is on top of what you would have earned through a ‘regular’ stay.

You need to register for the promotion here by September 2, 2019. The stay period is between July 2, 2019 to September 16, 2019.

It is worth noting that in this promotion, you get bonus points based on your stays and not your spend. This means a cheaper property can earn you better value.

Opportunity with Marriott Properties in Dubai

July continues to be the low season for tourism in Dubai. This is, at least partially, due to the weather. Several hotel properties are available at attractive rates. For Marriott properties, you have some really good rates for the following properties

Marriott also has an ongoing ‘Summer Sale’ for hotels in Middle East. You get breakfast included in your rates. The two promotions can be combined.

Let us assume you stay at Four Points by Sheraton Bur Dubai for two nights at $45 per night (including taxes). If you are a Gold Elite member and have a co-branded Marriott credit card, you could earn

  • 10 points per dollar as standard earnings – 900 points
  • 2.5 points per dollar as Gold Elite benefit (25% bonus on standard earnings) – 225 points
  • 6 points per dollar with co-branded credit card – 540 points
  • 1,500 bonus points staying two nights

In other words, you earn a total of 3,165 points. Again, if you value Marriott points at 0.9 cents, you earn points worth $28.50. In other words, you get ~30% points back with your stay.

For those looking at mattress run opportunities, the net charge per tier night is $30. This is not bad at all, especially if you are only a few nights short of Platinum Elite status.
